Farewell Minneapolis and thank you!
May 3, 2011
Well, I've been away for a few months focused on work. It has been a challenging year compared to last year to say the least. Recently I discovered I will be PCSing to Redding Recruiting Company in Northern California, where I will serve as the First Sergeant. We were taken by surprise, as we expected another year here in Minneapolis. We are getting excited though and dealing with all of the usual headaches that go with moving to a new place. My daughter is excited, but a little nervous too I think. We are scheduled to arrive in Redding on her seventh birthday.
I want to take a moment to thank the ALL of the great people I had a chance to meet during my tenure in the Twin Cities. Great Soldiers, Leaders, friends and community partners. I had a chance to establish several relationships with community leaders through our Twin Cities Advisory Panel, where we worked together to improve life in Minneapolis/St Paul, while connecting America's Army with America's people. I have worked for and along side of some truly outstanding officers and NCOs, as well as, one of the best Family Readiness Groups I've experienced in all my years in USAREC. My family and I thank each of you for your professionalism and dedication!
In just a couple of weeks our road trip begins as we add the next chapter to our lives and our military resume. I look forward to learning from yet another group of Soldiers who will undoubtedly impact my life in a positive way, yet again. I'm extremely happy to be moving to another leadership assignment and the opportunity to provide the strength in my fourth battalion in USAREC and my third Brigade. The day will come all to soon when I must step into a staff position. For now though, a continued chance to lead Soldiers and talk to young people is another couple of years doing what I love!
I'll be away from work for a full 45 days, which never fails to remind me that I love what I do, as I will be itching to get back into the fight from about day three on. Along the way I will be posting some PCS trials and tribulations blogs for those Future Soldiers out there who want to know how things work every few years when moving time comes. It feels good to be back on the blog and I look forward to talking to you all again soon.
Terry
