America's Grassroots

July 2, 2010

There's nothing more tradtional than a summer concert in the park.  Franklin, Pennsylvania hosted the Musical Ambassadors of the Army, The U.S. Army Field Band and Soldiers' Chorus on a bandstand in the town square complete with a monument memorializing the town's war dead and homemade pies and ice cream served up by a civic group.

Duirng one of our selections, sections of the band compete for audience applause.  SSG Rob Marino and SFC Brian Spurgeon kick it up a notch by doing their drum solo blindfolded.

Take a talented photographer like MSG Rob McIver, add in the women of the Soldiers' Chorus, and provide lots of time waiting to go on and you'll eventually get gag "glamour shots."  SSG Jessica Medina, SSG Tracy Labrecque, and SSG Teresa Alzadon strike a pose in front of one of our busses.

After the concert, a local high school student who was an All-State clarinet player (back to the camera) went up to meet one of her new idols, SSG Adrienne Hodges.

Soon to come will be shots of the Soldiers' Chorus with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.  Then on to 4th of July concerts!  Check out more photos and upcoming events at www.facebook.com/fieldband.
