Army "Inreach"

April 01, 2012 | Colonel Thomas Palmatier

Army Outreach should be a priority for all Soldiers.  More than any other branch of the Armed Forces, the Army is "of the people" and the support of Americans for their sons and daughters serving in America's Army is our "center of gravity."

Many times, Army bands travel around the Nation presenting concerts, parades, and other events to connect with the American people.  The United States Army Band "Pershing's Own" frequently hosts large audiences who come from all over the world to our headquarters on Fort Myer near Washington, DC.  Recently, we hosted the Eastern Trombone Workshop.  Here, an overflow audience (and web viewers around the world) witness a stunning performance by Ian Bousfield with The U.S. Army Concert Band.  Ian is the Principal Trombonist with the Vienna Philharmonic.  This is just one of many examples of "Inreach" where we host large numbers of people, giving us a chance to tell the Army Story.

Recently, a group of students from Henderson, Nevada visited to attend a concert by The U.S. Army Strings.  Major Tod Addison and members of the Strings chatted with them after the performance.
