Music in the Buckeye State

July 3, 2010

Springfield, Ohio was the site of the next concert by The U.S. Army Field Band and Soldiers' Chorus on their summer tour.  At each concert, local Army Recruiters are introduced.  Every one of these recruiters is a combat veteran and they received a thunderous ovation from the more than 2,000 in the audience.

One of the most popular selections is a medley of songs from the World War II era.  MSG Laura Lesche, SSG Meghan Whittier, and SSG Pamela Terry do a great job of singing in the style of the Andrews Sisters.

On summer tours, some Soldiers bring family members along.  SGM Mark Bowling's son Cameron is seen here.  This is actually a rare photo because he's not texting on his phone.

This concert ended with the audience singing "God Bless America."  A proud Marine Corps veteran stands and sings.

Next posting will have some great shots of the Soldiers' Chorus with the Atlanta Symphony.  Lots more photos can be found at www.facebook.com/fieldband.
