Visit to Chautauqua

July 1, 2010

The U.S. Army Field Band & Soldiers' Chorus recently visited one of America's true cultural treasures, the Chautauqua Institution.    Founded in 1874 as a retreat for educational and artistic study, the town attracts thousands of visitors each summer.  Here are about 4,000 of them at a Field Band concert.

One of our selections features all of the sections of the band in solo features.  Here are the tubas and euphoniums, which we refer to as Heavy Metal.

Read more about our visit to Chautauqua at http://bands.army.mil/news/default.asp?NewsID=665.  While at Army Bands Online, check out lots of stuff about the Army's more than 100 bands.  Follow The U.S. Army Field Band on Facebook to see more photos.
