Spera

During a mission to Spera, one of my friends and I shot video of the events taking place there. Spera is in a remote and mountainous area of Afghanistan. Despite that, it is also very beautiful. When we landed we had to wade across a small river and walk up a huge hill. It was very steep and by the time I got to the top I was thanking my lucky stars that I've been working out over the past couple of weeks. The view at the top was very worth it, however. I got a little camera happy and ended up taking a lot of photos.
After the meeting between the village elders and government officials, we ate lunch with the locals. I will say that food here is very good. A couple of the local guys made sure that my friend, and I got enough food and got to try everything. We would finish one piece of bread and they'd be handing us another.
They let us tour the village and see the recent clinic and school that had been built. It was quite the hike trying to get to one of those places. We had to go up a steep cliff. The locals all just ran up it no problem, but the U.S. Soldiers had a bit more difficulty navigating the steep terrain. It was pretty funny to watch.
