Touring Texas With the Field Band

We're almost two weeks into our Fall tour and the concerts have all been wonderful, with enthusiastic audiences at every stop. In addition to our evening shows our chamber groups have been hard at work performing in schools and colleges along the way. The Soldiers' Chorus recently did a recital at Flower Mound High School in the metro Dallas area, to an audience of about sixty young singers.

Speaking of young singers, I had the good fortune to share a smile with a young person after one of our shows:

About Me: I've been a member of the Army Field Band since 1987, performing concerts nationwide in support of the Army's public relations efforts representing Soldiers to the American people. My wife Mary Lynn and I have resided in the Annapolis, MD area since 1988, where we have raised four sons and one daughter, homeschooling all five of them between 1992 and 2008. Our two oldest sons are pursuing military careers: our oldest is a graduate of The US Naval Academy (Class of 2008). He has served on USS MAKIN ISLAND (LHD 8), USS DUBUQUE (LPD 8), deployed in CENTCOM in 2010 as part of the Peleliu ARG. He is the Training Officer aboard USS ANZIO (CG 68), based in Norfolk, VA, deployed in anti-piracy ops thru December '11. Our second son is an Infantry 2LT, recently graduated from Towson University. He graduated from the Airborne School (2nd Plt., C-1/507 PIR) at Ft Benning on 9/11/09, and from Ranger School on 12/9/11. He is following on to 3ID at Ft Stewart in the spring of 2012.
