Moving On To The Netherlands

Well my time as the 1SG of HHC, 171st Infantry Brigade at Fort Jackson, South Carolina is over and it is time to move to my next assignment. I will be the 1SG of A Co, Brunssum, Netherlands as of July and a new chapter of my life will begin. This assignment will be three years and I will be taking my family as well. We will have the opportunity to travel Europe and my children will be attending an International School, so it will be a huge culture shock for them, but it will be great for them to see how other countries live and attend school. We are looking forward to this assignment, the movers packed out our house today and it will be picked up tomorrow and we will be departing here on 7 June.

    I had no clue we had a base in holland, I live in the netherlands, I'm an American expat, I am hoping to get into the us army, but I don't have an american highschool diploma so that is causing problems.

      Yes, there is a NATO base in Brunssum, The Netherlands. It is a great place to live and work.

    1SG Howell,

    Did you get this assignment by going through Mr. Bruback (NATO Liasion) or did you just come down on orders naturally? I am trying to get a PTX and Line number to go to either SHAPE or NATO in Heidleberg. Just wondering if you went after it or if you lucked into it. Thanks for any info you can give me to get into NATO.

    I found it when I was looking at the requisitions for 1SG slots. I went through MSG Ross my branch manager and got the job. I would tell you to talk the branch. Good luck
