    March 7, 2011

By: Sergeant First Class Mike Wiggins

Facebook and Youtube are great Social Media tools for Recruiting, getting the Army Message out & telling your Recruiting Stations Army Story. Facebook is where everyone is. When used correctly, it will put your Recruiting Station on the Map with your community. Many Station Commanders and Recruiters do not know how to use The Recruiting Station Fan Page to attract Fans or get their Stations Message out there. They get frustrated, say it is a waste of time...read more

  • Spring Break Warrior Challenge - South Padre Island

    March 7, 2011

    By: Captain Ron Casper

With the exception of my time in Orlando and Kansas City, most of my time in the Army has been spent with Combat Arms units where I was afforded the opportunity to travel to exotic places like the Combat Maneuvers Training Center (CMTC) in Hohenfels, Germany; the Grafenwoehr Live Fire Area (also in Germany); the National Training Center (NTC) located in the middle of the desert in Ft. Irwin, CA; the Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC) in beautiful Ft. Polk, Louisiana, countless trips...read more

    March 7, 2011

    By: First Sergeant William Howell

Hello again, it has been a while since I posted something and that is because my company and the battalion have been very busy putting together our annual Warrior Tasks and Battle Drills training exercise. This year the training exercise is bigger and better than previous years. We have been trying to put this together since November of last year and I as I always say, training does not just happen, it has to be planned. So, the battalion has expanded this years exercise to three days and we...read more

  • How I Became a Chairborne Ranger

    March 4, 2011

    By: Captain Ron Casper

I am a member of the Adjutant General Corps (Human Resources), and have been for nearly 19 years. During this time I’ve been called a lot of things for working in a less than desirable job in the Army. That's right, I've heard it all from Desk Jockey to Pencil Pusher, but I believe my all-time favorite is Chairborne Ranger! I mean, I understand. There are no guts, glory, glitz or glamour in this career field and the only excitement AG...read more

  • The Beginning of My Journey

    March 1, 2011

    By: Captain Ron Casper

I was 17 years old when I enlisted in the Army and had no clue what I was getting myself into! I knew I lacked the grades and finances to attend college, but more importantly, I knew I did not possess the discipline or the maturity to take on such a feat. What I did know was that if I wanted to be successful in life, I had to leave my small town in California, and I had to do it quickly. My recruiter sold me on the Army almost immediately.....okay, okay, it...read more

  • Why It Is Great To Live Overseas

    January 17, 2011

    By: First Sergeant William Howell

Hello everybody, I just wanted to tell you why it is great to live overseas with your family. I have a 14 year old daughter and a 12 year old son, and a 3 year old son. The 14 year old and 12 year old play sports with Youth Sports (YS) on post and they have just started playing basketball. Their first game was last Saturday in Belgium, yes Belgium. We drove 2 hours to go and see them at Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE). Both of their teams won and of course that is great. But...read more

  • My Army Career In Review

    January 3, 2011

    By: First Sergeant William Howell

Hey everyone, hope your new year is going well. I just wanted to take a little time to reflect on my career as I am entering my 18th year (as of March 2.) Well lets see, I enlisted into the Army on 2 March 1994 and I really never thought I would make this far. I initially came in to provide some much needed benefits for my family at the time (I was divorced in 1998 and now remarried). At the time, I did not want to join the Army, but my ex-wife talked me into joining. I enlisted and my first...read more

    December 30, 2010

    By: First Sergeant William Howell

Happy Holidays to everyone, I hope that you had a great Christmas and that you have a better New Year! Today I want to tell you how it is to work in a NATO unit. If you did not know the Army has personnel stationed in Brunssum, The Netherlands and the post is called the Joint Forces Center. There is only a couple of Army units here, such as mine which is the Allied Forces North Battalion (AFNORTH) and it is part of the US ARMY NATO Brigade (stationed in Heidleberg, Germany). I have a...read more

  • "Don't ask, don't tell" hype is everywhere!

    December 13, 2010

    By: First Sergeant Terrence Hynes

Don't ask, don't tell hype is everywhere! When DADT was passed into law, people were outraged. They were concerned about the impact on readiness, morale and welfare. In the years since DADT (and the years before it), we have served alongside homosexual Soldiers. Sure, they couldn't admit who they were. It was a big "secret" that everyone knew. In all those years we shared open-bay showers, we shared rooms, we ate together, went to the field together and occupied...read more

  • Army Bands Graduate First Class

    December 13, 2010

By: Chief Warrant Officer 4 Glen Nardin

It is one of those things that makes history, but nobody realizes it even happened. On Friday, December 10, 2010 the Army School of Music graduated its first 10-week course graduates. What is the significance of this event? Let me start at the beginning... 60 years ago in 1950, the Army agreed to combine with the Navy School of Music to produce our musicians cooperatively. The first class graduated in 1951. For six decades music training...read more
