i recall many months ago my plt was driving back to the FOB late at night on the MSR. to help illustrate its third world dark at night and the roads are hoirribly paved with heavy ruts and large speed bumps. the gunner in the last vehicle calls up "whoa sh!t theres a crazy guy on a bike swerving through the convoy!" i see this afghani motorcyle god in my mirror, turban and man jamis flapping in the wind ( and wearing sandals) on a beater kawasaki goin a good...read more

Hey all, bored at 0200 so figured i would post. Just chilling on an airfield near russia, waiting to head into afghanistan. Its cold as heck here, but 24 hr wi-fi, phones, and 24 hr dfac is awesome. Been crashed out on my bunk for 24 hrs straight now, cant wait to get moving again.

Getting ready to head out for my first deployment to Afghanistan. Not looking foward to being away from my wife (& dog!) but it will be a new experience. I'll start blogging as soon as I can. Hooah!

There are a few ways to become an Army officer and they are all centered around your education. A bachelors or four year degree is key to getting commissioned as an Amry officer. It's not neccessary to already have your degree but to complte it before getting commissioned. The path that everyone thinks of is getting an appointment to West Point and this has definately been around the longest. I have been busy since my last post. In early February I had my Officer Candidate School (OCS) board and was accepted into the OCS program for the Hawaii National Guard. Later that month I began Zero Phase of OCS. Zero Phase is the Hawaii National Guard's preparatory phase for Phasese the I-III of OCS on the mainland.
