Amman-April flew by and there were several activities which helped welcome the new season into Jordan. I want to thank everybody that participated in todays event. As a Hispanic, it is great to see that there are organizations reaching out and mentoring our current and future leaders on the many opportunities available for education and career advancement. I am looking forward to keep teaching young students on the many paths that are available in the Army in the fields of Medicine and Engineering. ARMY STRONG!

In my current assignment as a healthcare recruiter, I have had the unique position to interact with my community and directly share my life story with other people that that might follow in my foot steps. We finished our two week tour of Saudi Arabia by driving from Al-Khobar in the East to Jeddah in the West then North to Medain Saleh and back to Amman. We first stopped in Ta’if, a small city on the east side of the Hijaz region and a gateway to the Mecca Province. My name is Staff Sgt. Pablo A. Machin, Sr., and I am an Army Recruiting Noncommissioned officer assigned to the U.S. Army Career Center Long Island City in Brooklyn, N.Y. I have served the U.S. Army for 13 years as a cannon crewmember within field artillery, and have traveled the world, including four tours to the Middle East. Too often the cost of our freedom is causally taken for granted. The sacrifices made by our brave service members are at times overlooked or under appreciated. The NSBE Convention has been a wonderful experience for me as an Army ROTC Recruiter. It has been very inspirational to see such a wonderful group of young minds--they have such a bright future ahead of them. It was a pleaseure to talk to them! I hope that some of them consider a future with the Army.
