I attended the Steve Harvey Foundation Mentoring Weekend and it really opened my eyes on why programs like this are needed. Young men from the ages of 13-18 years old were selected out of 4,000 applicants. 100 were selected for this special weekend with outstanding leaders throughout our communities. The army led the way with at least 20 different primary mentors, and one guest speaker. Looking at the look in some kids eyes, you felt the hunger of wanting guidance...read more

I’ve started ILE, and we’ve just completed the writing assessment test. I got done with it a little early, and since we have a requirement to blog while attending this course, I figure this will make a good first introduction to me. By: Second Lieutenant Luke Ulrich
Well, it’s official. I am now a college graduate and an Army officer. I received my commission last Friday with twenty classmates. I have entered the USAR as a Transportation Officer. I am entering service as a platoon leader in the 443rd Transportation Company here in Omaha. My first battle assembly is in June, but I don’t attend TBOLC until September. It will be interesting to enter the unit before I know everything about our equipment and assets! (I am counting on my NCOs...read more

Just finished one course this week that prepares me to be a Unit Public Affairs Representative and now I'm flying out to Warrior Leadership Course. Two weeks on lockdown and high stress is what I've been told by many I've spoken to. I expect that it will be challenging, but as always I will rise to the occasion and do my best.

I am a ROTC cadet at the University of Toledo, in my third year. This year I am learning about OPORD's and preparing myself for LDAC. This weekend we had our JFTX with Bowling Green. I felt this was really good training integrating us with other people we have not work with before, BG had different ideas to bring to the table and although it was cold and raining all weekend the learning experience was amazing. This year I have also had the opportunity to join the Ohio National Guard...read more
