    My first impressions of a war zone were filled with myths and innuendos. The tales of insurgent fighters running through the Middle East is something that reads like a movie screenplay. Action packed films like Lawrence of Arabia, Platoon and Hurt Locker depict good guys fighting bad guys in distant lands was imprinted in my mind. The chance to fight for your country and execute years of training is a Warrior’s dream. The worlds’ wars have changed since September 11, 2001. Failed states

    Frustrated Cargo      My journey began in mid-December 2009, trying to get home for a Rest and Relaxation (R&R) break from Afghanistan. How difficult could it be to get back to Washington, DC to my family? I was wrong. My first leg started in Bagram, Afghanistan and I was prepared to spend one night in this bustling Metropolis. My day consisted of sleeping, eating, exercising and making a roll call for this phantom flight. It appeared that Kuwait could only handle 100 personnel per day and I
