By: Anthony Vogt
Well.....the first year of ROTC is done. Finally, I can take a bit of a break from formations. In the meantime, I've decided that sometime, I shall go to law school, the interest has grown in the last year. I'm also looking for summer work so I can stay in Norman. I LOVE it here. So for the good and bad of ROTC lately. The good, getting a 252 on my last APFT, the bad, the first attempt for the APFT being stormed out in the morning, Oklahoma isn't the best weather when you...read more

By: Anthony Vogt
It's been too long since my last post. In the last few months, I got hurt, passed a PT test last friday, and saw many things good and bad happen.

I am almost finished getting my major changed to a double major in Latin and Communication. With Comm I'm going to put the emphasis on intercultural and global comm. It's probably just an interest that comes up from having foreign friends. I'm doing birthday shopping now for my Russian langauge tutor who lives in...read more

By: Anthony Vogt
First on my mind, DO NOT get a Latin tattoo without checking a translation, a friend of mine has one that implies she is a man.

Well I got three A's at the end of last semester, can't complain, Latin, Mil Science, and Expository writing.

	How fun...

Next semester should be great, no night classes, and only two 0830 classes. PT should be a lot more enjoyable then...read more

By: Anthony Vogt
Well. Almost over with one semester...about time. I am tired of night class which happens to be math. I still have things to do though. When certain things get back to me, I can reset my AKO account. PT is overwith for the semester, with the exception of Friday's Dodgeball game....read more

I added at least 5 reps to both SUs and PUs and shaved 26 more seconds off the run to bring it down to a 14:20...

Salvete Omnes! Quid Agitis hodie? I hope you are all well.

Today is Thursday, that means lab, a math test, and ACU wear day.

It's odd when a college student stops and talks to you and asks if you are ROTC or Guard/Reserve. I answer ROTC everytime, and yet, they still say "Thank you for serving" or something along those lines. While I really like seeing someone who isn't anti-military. I'd rather see them saying this to someone who has been deployed or has been in...read more

Today, my friends, is the midterm for ROTC.

(Hodie, Amici mei, est ROTC midterm), I love having an easy Latin class, it's only easy because I have been using Wheelock's prior to college.

The midterm should cover things such as rank structure, map terrain and features, customs and what have you...should be a decent test.

 Well...I'm sick, AGAIN...

It must be that part of college where they cram people into the dorms like animals...now I know how Tokyo residents and Beijing residents feel about flu season. I want to get the best filtration system for my dorm so I can make it a clean room, with decontamination at the door. I'm currently at home, I got the strength up to drive from Norman to Hennessey Saturday morning...although I almost puked a few times, but once I got food (at 4 pm) I...read more

I absolutely hate it when someone points a rifle at me. even if it's a fake drill rifle used by a (marching band) colorguard. I had to practice my yelling because this dumbass kid should really know better, he's a boy scout for God's sake! Do they not do firearms safety anymore??? EVERYONE should know you NEVER, EVER, EVER point ANY firearm, fake or real, at someone without good cause, if for military training or law enforcement training then it's one thing.
By: Anthony Vogt
It's the weekend of the famous Red River Rivalry and I am at home, right where I want to be right now. I will be moving into a new dorm room Sunday and Monday and for now, it's a good time to rest. I went on a run today at 0550 to "celebrate" being able to wear the winter PTs now. 55 degrees outside and each deep breath felt good. I visited my old school today and tried to find all the Sooner fans I could and convinced them to go to some home games. Hello all, this is my blog, which you are reading, are you bored yet? Well that will change.

I am in ROTC because; 1. I needed the money, and 2. I wanted to serve my country in the highest capacity I could, which to me means as an Army Officer.

So far I am in the contracting process and today I passed my APFT, so that's the major obstacle completed, HOOAH! My run improved by about 40-45 seconds or so.

Well I have to go to my expository writing...read more
