Some tips

By: Darim Choi
I was very surprised to see how much free time we have had since we have gotten here and I am really glad that we got this time. For most of the days, our duty day ended at around 1800 and our curfew was normally 2400 and on. I used this time to go on base and do laundry or pick up items from the PX. I preferred places outside of Seoul because I come from a big city and also, I...read more

Meeting ROK Cadets

By: Darim Choi
It was so interesting meeting the ROK cadets because it was interesting to see how they train and talk to their superiors and how they act around each other. We were able to PT with them after chow and it was not difficult to notice how disciplined they are. I felt so privileged to be able to go to chow with them and do PT with them because now, I get to say that I've done PT with ROK cadets. Who else can say that, besides, us very lucky 23 cadets on this...read more

Lessons Learned

By: Darim Choi
When I first found out that I was going to Korea for the CULP program with ROTC cadets, I was disappointed. I am a Korean American and I had just been to Korea last summer. I wanted to go some place more exciting - more exotic. I wanted to go to a place where there would be a language barrier for me and where I could try different kinds of food that I have never even heard of before. Instead, I expected to eat what I normally eat at home, help translate a few...read more
