Rehearsals, briefings and BBQs. These events have kept me busy over the last couple of days. The Soldier-Heroes have rehearsed on site at the Alamo Dome what we are going to do on gameday during the pregame festivities. As with any military operation, rehearsals have been crucial to ensuring everyone is aware of what we are going to do, where we are supposed to stand, and how we are going to synchronize all of the 98 Soldier-Heroes in the pregame introductions and activities. Personally, my...read more

Part of my tasking this week at the Army All American Bowl is to sponsor one of the elite high school football players who are playing in the game. I am to interact with my athlete as well as show him some of the Army values such as loyalty, duty and selfless service. My athlete is #12, Shakim Phillips from DePaul Catholic High School in Wayne, NJ. He is a wide receiver and a great kid. As an All-American, he is, obviously, a superb athlete but also a very polite and respectful young man. I...read more

A Traveler's Dream...

Air travel. Those two words are often associated with hassle and aggravation. Regardless of whether someone is the most seasoned business traveler or simply a once in a lifetime flyer, few people are eager to tackle the strain of flight delays, lines, checked bag fees and overpriced food.
I have done quite a bit of flying over the past six years and have to admit that I was not eager to begin my air travel to San Antonio today. However, I sheepishly confess that my flying experience today was...read more

As a huge football fanatic, I have always taken an interest in football on all levels from youngsters playing pop warner to the star athletes of the NFL. The opportunity to share in this year's Army All American Bowl is very exciting.
In previous years, I have enjoyed watching this game on TV and I am now eager to see these elite high school players as they prepare for the challenges on the next level of competition.
While the idea of watching an entertaining football matchup was more than...read more
