Rehearsals, briefings and BBQs. These events have kept me busy over the last couple of days. The Soldier-Heroes have rehearsed on site at the Alamo Dome what we are going to do on gameday during the pregame festivities. Part of my tasking this week at the Army All American Bowl is to sponsor one of the elite high school football players who are playing in the game. I am to interact with my athlete as well as show him some of the Army values such as loyalty, duty and selfless service. My athlete is #12, Shakim Phillips from DePaul Catholic High School in Wayne, NJ. He is a wide receiver and a great kid. Air travel. Those two words are often associated with hassle and aggravation.
