As mentioned before cadets spent a lot of timing visiting a number of religious communities. One such community, the Coptic Orthodox Church, was very new to several of the cadets. This class is designed to open cadets up to new experiences and allow them an opportunity to learn and experience new cultures and ethnicities. In this video you see cadets meeting with and exchanging gifts with the bishop of the Coptic Christian church.

Again this trip was eye-opening and a great experience....read more

On the second day we took time to visit a Pakistani mosque and hear from the Pakistani community. We discussed a number of issues including how they viewed issues in Afghanistan and Pakistan, what they felt about Jersey City and living in such a multi-ethnic and religiously diverse city. They were very welcoming and cadets really enjoyed the visit. To cap it off the community invited us to eat ethnic Pakistani food with them. It was delicious and everyone enjoyed it very much. This video shows...read more

After enjoying the ethnic Pakistani food, cadets were asked to join the community for their Friday prayer. After listening to the imam give his sermon, some of the attending Pakistanis asked cadets to join in the prayer. This video shows a few of the cadets humbly obliging and joining in this sacred ceremony. The cadets were truly humbled by the experience and came away from the mosque with a new sense of understanding for other religions and the complexity that comes with dealing with people...read more

Hey everybody. My name is Jacob Haag I am a senior cadet West Point. For one of my classes, XH467 Winning the Peace, my classmates and I took a trip for 3 days and 2 nights to Jersey City, New Jersey. The class is dedicated to challenging perceptions and assumptions; not only our own, but also those of foreign societies, different U.S. governmental agencies, and non-governmental organizations within the United States. The curriculum seeks to give us difficult moral, ethical, and legal...read more
