By: Jia Choi
When I first found out I was going to South Korea I was excited the most about all the different kinds of Korean dishes I was going to eat. First night we had Korean food was Korean bbq which is always my favorite. It was a good experience eating it with the cadets in my platoon because they didn't know how to eat it or what it was. So eating with them, enjoying and talking about the food was a fun experience. Also teaching them how to eat it was the most exciting part because none of the...read more

By: Jia Choi
Out of the days that I have been in South Korea, my platoon and I went to the ROK cadet's military base. At first it was intimidating for me because there were not alot of female ROK cadets. As we marched into the base we put our luggage in the barracks and went to go join the ROK cadets for lunch. We were served fish kimcheegeegae, rice, squid and kimchi. I enjoyed lunch with the ROK cadets because they were so interested in talking to us. All of the cadets in the...read more

By: Jia Choi
As ROTC female cadet I was excited to meet the female ROK cadets. The first day we met them was in the lobby of our hotel. There were only 3 females and the rest were waiting at Korea University. When I first met the female ROK cadets I was intimidated a little because their the first females to join the ROK army and are going to be the first female officers to commission in South Korea. They understood most of what we were saying in English which made it easier for me to...read more
