By: Megan Grosenick
Well today is a beautiful day, it is sunny and the perfect temperature, especially for pumpkin picking. I am so excited to go to the pumpkin patch today, it will be the start of a great weekend. Next weekend i will be on the mountian top all day Saturday doing STX lanes and day and night land navigation. I figure i might as well get some fun in before it is time for some awesome army training. I love fall and i hope i can figure out some other things to do before it gets too cold....read more

Long Days

By: Megan Grosenick
Between ROTC, work, school and helping others my days seem to run together. Sometimes i feel like i am running for 20 out of the 24 hours of a day. The funny thing is i would not change it for anything. The more things i accomplish in one day the better i feel. Some days i am so busy i forget to eat, but i always have my coffee to get me through the long days. Sometimes going for so many hours causes me to be grumpy and have a short temper and sometimes others around me do not like it, but i...read more

Growth and Becoming an Adult

By: Megan Grosenick
ROTC is a pretty big commitment, between waking up before the sun is up for pt to missing out on homwcoming and other events for weekend training. If i was a typical college student just starting ROTC, i think i would feel like more of an adult than many of my friends. As cadets we are expected to make good choices to include chosing weekend training over a party of homecoming. With ROTC there are a lot of sacrafices but there are a lot of rewards. Cadets have a special bond, something many...read more

Mentoring BCC's

By: Megan Grosenick
I have realized, even before ROTC, how much i enjoyed helping others. There are a few things that seperate me from some of my fellow cadets; i am a few years older than most of the cadets and i am prior service. I have learned many things through trial and error and i am more than happy to pass these things on to others to aid them in learning without having to fail to do so. I enjoy talking to other cadets about my experiences with the Army and people i have met. I have always told others,...read more

ROTC and College

By: Megan Grosenick
Being a college student is hard enough, but when you add in PT 3 mornings a week and an extra class it can become overwhelming for some. One of the things that helps me to make it through some of the long weeks full of ROTC events is the fact that i have my tuition paid for and some extra money in my pocket. Another plus to ROTC is the exciting training we take part in; how often do regular college students get to fire AT4's or M249's? Not very often. Even though ROTC can add extra...read more

Fun Filled Weekend

By: Megan Grosenick
So this past weekend, my ROTC crew spent the weekend training on different weapons. My first thought was OMG half of these students have never even seen a weapon, this is going to be a rough time. But after we arrived at FIG (Fort Indiantown Gap, PA) i realized things were not going to be as bad as i thought. There were classes on all 4 weapons were were going to be using. Also, the students who had fired weapons before were helping the others who had no clue how to even hold...read more
