By: Michael Pumphrey
I am a Cadet from West Virginia University on a CULP trip to Korea. When I first arrived here in Korea I was very excited to experience and try the many customs and foods. The first thing that I remember getting to do was visiting the DMZ. I loved the scenery and the historical meaning behind the area as the cultural significance it had. This are was a reminder of the Korean war and the long lasting effects of such conflicts. It gave me and the other cadets...read more

The next section of my trip included spending time with ROTC cadets in the ROK Army. This was the first trip of its kind and was very successful. We were all assigned one cadet that we got the oppurtunity to spend the day with. My cadet and I went to a traditonal Korean village and visted many shops and resturants. We also got to see the Blue house, which is the equivalent to the White house in the United States. After which we went to my cadets house and spent the evening with him...read more
