By: Nathan Bray
This week for lab half of the Batt conducted CLS training to learn how to effectivley evaluate and treat a wounded soldier. The other half which was my company, Bravo Company conducted the hand grenade assualt course (HGAC). We paired up in battle buddy pairs and ran through a course that included taking out single enemy soldiers and bunkers. We were instructed and implimented the different throwing positions to throw a frag. My battle buddy Befus and I ran through the course and hit all of...read more

By: Nathan Bray
Last weekend the entire Pirate Batt. went out on a FTX to Camp Butner, NC. While there we conducted dday and night land nav on Saturday then did a full day of STX Lanes and battle drills on Sunday. Monday morning we finished up with a ruck march competition. The ruck march was only 2.7 miles but it was done at the fastest pace possible because it was a competition between the four platoons. FTX's are the highlight of the semesters because it brings everybody together and does wonders for...read more

Morning Ruck

By: Nathan Bray
Monday morning was a good morning for Bravo Company 2nd Plt in the Pirate Battalion. In preparation for our fall FTX this weekend my platoon conducted a 3 mile ruck march that was a stepping stone for those who have never done a ruck to get ready for this weekend. For the more experienced cadets the ruck was not very challenging but for a lot of the freshman it opened them up to see what they are really made of. Also in response to those who were falling out it allowed the upperclassmen...read more

Early Morning Rain

By: Nathan Bray
If its not raining your not training was the true motto for today's PT session. With a weeks worth of rain and flooding around town mother nature still could not bring the Pirates to a halt. We drove on with out skipping a beat and moral was high. For PT we ran 60/120's and did various upper and lower body excersies, pretty solid workout. Other than a good workout in the early morning rain, the Pirate Battalion is gearing up for our fall FTX at Camp Butner. I have a PCI on Sunday so...read more

East Carolina University Army ROTC

By: Nathan Bray
As a sophmore/ MSII enrolled with ECU AROTC the opportunites are great and the friends are even better. This year I am responisble for a fireteam's operation moral and overall success in the program. At the Pirate Battalion this are not the same as a lot of other battalions around the nation. For example the expected PT Score is a 300 and nothing less will be tolerated if the cadre knows your are capable of it. We are ebbeded deep within the school's tradition with activites such as...read more
