By: Nick Cianciolo
Last Tuesday I spent around 36 hours with a ROK Army ROTC Cadet; the purpose was to spend time at a Korean household to help better understand the culture. We met in a group setting and went bowling before having lunch together. Luckily, my homestay partner had gone to international schools when he lived overseas and was very good with English. After lunch near his university, I visited his university along with several other US and Korean ROTC Cadets. We toured the...read more

Teaching English to Korean Children

By: Nick Cianciolo
All Korea CULP cadets have taught English to Korean Middle Schoolers over the past three weekdays and have three more to go. The experience has been mind blowing for multiple reasons. First and foremost, I now know what it feels like to be a celebrity and have throngs of people cheering as you enter a building. These middle schoolers make us feel extremely welcome every day upon arrival. That, however, is where the glitz and glamour takes a short break. Teaching...read more

Sorak Mountain, South Korea

By: Nick Cianciolo
Several days ago I, along with the rest of the cadets on our Korea CULP trip, went to Sorak Mountain. After a cable car ride there is just a short hike up to the top of the mountain. The views from the top of the plateau were absolutely stunning. One side was a sheer drop that led to several different ravines and a stream running through the bottom right corner of the view. The front view from the very top of the mountain (which is reached by climbing a narrow neck of rock) is breathtaking....read more
