By: Stephen Yashinski
Yesterday I finally arrived back in the U.S from Thailand after a long couple of flights. The flight back gave me a great opportunity to reflect on the things I did and the friends I made at CRMA. The last couple of days included farewell parties and personal goodbyes. Waving goodbye at the airport to our Thai cadet sponsors while coming back to States was bittersweet. I really felt that I knew them after three short weeks, but I was looking forward to returning back to the U.S...read more

By: Stephen Yashinski
This past weekend our group was fortunate enough to have visited the actual bridge over the Kwai River in Kanchanaburi, on which the movie ‘Bridge on the River Kwai’ was based off of. The bridge was built as part of the Burmese Railway project, constructed during WWII by the Japanese to bring supplies from Singapore to the front. Thousands of POWs were forced to construct the railway in devastating working and living conditions. Thousands died of disease, malnutrition, and sheer...read more

By: Stephen Yashinski
It’s been two weeks since our group has arrived in Thailand. I haven’t posted in awhile because the site has had some technical difficulties but I am up and running now. I've been having a blast being surrounded by such a different culture than what I am used it in the United States or in Europe. The food, geography, plant life, history, and the weather have all contributed to a better understanding of what life is like for Thai members of the military and civilians....read more

CULP: Setting Off For Thailand

By: Stephen Yashinski
Greetings from Ft. Knox! On the eve of our departure to Thailand, our group of 11 cadets are preparing for a long and, of course, tiring, flight across the Pacific Ocean. At the end of this journey however, we will be rewarded with an amazing opportunity to both learn about an alien cultural and to also to bring a positive message from the United States.

As part of Cadet Command's Cultural Understanding and Language Program, we will be assisting Thai military academy and prep...read more
